Menopausal Services
Our approach to menopause evaluates a woman’s symptoms and the long-term health risks associated with the loss of estrogen production.
Heightened cardiovascular risk, insulin resistance, a loss of bone mineral density (leading to osteoporosis), certain forms of dementia, and the acceleration of age-related chronic disease are all tied to the onset of menopause.
Dr. Socol relies on a thorough intake evaluation, physical exam, blood tests and advanced diagnostics to gauge the relative health of a woman before deciding on how to navigate treatment.
Our assessment-based paradigm caters to the unique needs of a peri-menopausal woman, a woman who is recently menopausal, and a woman who is 10 or more years outside of menopause.
In terms of SocolMD's approach to hormone replacement therapy, Dr. Socol relies on the individual needs of the woman and a comprehensive read of the literature. This makes the difference between treating all women with bio-identical (or body identical) hormone therapy versus hybrid approaches which may be preferred for some women depending on their circumstances.
Because of this comprehensive practice model, our paradigm at SocolMD is education intensive and assessment based. We take the time to make sure that every woman understands what we're recommending and why.
